Summer Intensive 5787 / 2027
We had the best time at Castlehead last week, and we know that it really highlighted how different the experience of next year's intensive will be when we won't all be sleeping at the same site together.
In order to return to an overnight structure in 2028, we need a year where we add to the QY budget, and not just take from it! Rising costs have reduced the number of sign ups in the last couple of years, which has made the intensive expensive per person. This year, over half attendees paid less than the "standard" cost; we want to keep that possible.
We know that a different set up in 2027 will have advantages for some people and disadvantages for others and are keen to hear from participants directly how we can make it the best it can be given those constraints.
Although it won't feel the same, 2027 being a day-intensive will give us lots of opportunities, like being more accessible for some who have overnight caring responsibilities, getting creative with our timetable, reducing the cost for those for whom budget is the main barrier, and allow us capacity to fundraise to make our community model more sustainable!
We're really excited to see what we can do in 5787, and hope that we can raise more money! If you have fundraising experience, or would like to volunteer to be part of our fundraising team, we would love to hear from you.

There will still be an intensive in 2027! It just won’t be residential. But you can still expect 5 days of study and tefillah with our amazing community!

No, we are planning on returning to residential intensives, or possibly alternating year on year between residential and non-residential. We are also looking at other sites throughout the UK that might meet our needs for both residential and non-residential intensives. Yes! We know that staying in London will be an extra expense if you live elsewhere and are looking at pricing options that take this into account.

Although we know the Jewish community can be very London-centric and that can be unfair, we also know that a lot of our participants currently live in or near London. We are also looking to do more one-off events throughout the UK; if you live outside London and you or your shul might be able to host us please email info@yeshiva.lgbt

The first QY summer intensive was non-residential, so we know that both options have their positives and negatives! We’re hoping non-residential 2027 might be more accessible to parents and carers, for example. Our costs for the residential intensives are around £35,000 and this cost has been increasing year on year. This is why our ticket prices have gone up. A non-residential intensive allows us to offer many more affordable tickets.
